The Rules
This year's competition is now closed, All entries received have been acknowledged by email. If you have submitted an entry and have not received an acknowledgement please contact us.

- Only people starting a BSc, MSc or equivalent in a traditional maths, science or engineering subject at a UK university in the coming academic year are eligible.
- Combined honours courses, e.g. Physics with Philosophy, ARE eligible.
- Social science subjects are not eligible.
- All entries must be submitted using our entry form.
- Entries must be typed in English. Electronic submissions are preferred, although printed paper submission will be considered also.
- The entry must be all your own work. No plagiarising of any nature.
- All sources must be acknowledged.
- Entries must be received by the closing date (31st Mar 2010).
- Winners will be notified, in writing, by . Verification of acceptance on a suitable course will be required. The winner's name will also be posted on this website.
- By submitting your essay for the competition, you agree that we may publish it on this website or elsewhere, including publication by third party. We will notify you if we do this.
- The prize will be paid, by cheque, in three equal instalments shortly after the start of the academic year. Thus, the winner will receive the first instalment in October 2010, the second in October 2011, and the final instalment in October 2012.
- Employees of the Corti Family Trust and their families are not eligible to enter.
- The judges' decision is final. A copy of the winning entry will be available on request.
